What to Expect: A welcoming and safe environment for learning and community building. The workshop location is located just off of a public bus line and is wheelchair accessible via sidewalk and grass. The weekend will include some discussion and overview of what we call Place-Based Building; the use of building materials and traditions that are relative to a given place; as well as lots of hands-on learning as we introduce tools, terms and techniques and students build their own saw horses to take home. Students can also anticipate informal conversations around how to make the building trades more inclusive, the intersection of building, agriculture and the environment, women’s empowerment, cross-cultural building techniques and whatever else you might bring to the table!
